Created for the "Scripting for Games 2" in the Academy of Art University, Horizon is a 2D turn-based strategy game that features the player, a low-time mercenary, to explore the galaxy and face against pirating ships and other dangers that live far in the fringes of space.
Inspired by the mobile game "Dragon Ball Z Dokkan Battle" and the Sci-Fi indie game "FTL: Faster Than Light", Horizon is a strategy game that tries mimic the exploration and encounter aspect of "FTL" while being action-packed and easy to pick up that is DBZ Dokkan Battle".
Using C# in Unity, I created the board-matching style from the ground up and using raycasting as detectors for nearby identical orbs. Horizon was once originally a swipe to match 3 game, but playtesting proved that a simple tap to gain all is much more rewarding and opens up for further mechanics such as abilities that alters the game board.
